Plastic Surgeons in Hampton Roads

Dr. Zwicklbauer was named both a 2013 Top Plastic Surgeon by Virginia Living Magazine and a 2013 Top Doc in Hampton Roads Magazine’s “Best of the 757.″

Michael F. Zwicklbauer, MD, FACS, is called “Dr. Z” by patients and fellow Hampton Roads plastic surgeons at the Plastic Surgery Center of Hampton Roads. He joined the practice in 1997. “Dr. Z” received his medical degree from Albany Medical College and completed his general surgery residency at the University of Massachusetts, where he received the Charles Eckert Award for Exceptional Achievement in Surgery. He was then selected for a hand fellowship, specializing in microsurgery at the University of Miami, followed by a fellowship in plastic surgery at the Medical College of Virginia.

Like the rest of our Hampton Roads plastic surgeons, Dr. Zwicklbauer is Board Certified in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He was named in Hampton Roads Magazine‘s Top Doc’s Hall of Fame in Plastic Surgery and earned the 2008 Patient Choice for Plastic Surgery Award. He is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Society of Plastic Surgery, the Medical Society of Virginia, the American College of Surgeons, and the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. He has been a member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery since 2008. Dr. Zwicklbauer is also a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, a medical honor society that comprises the top ten percent of medical students.

Dr. Zwicklbauer chose plastic surgery because he feels, “it is a most rewarding, gratifying, and intimate occupation because I am able to help my patients obtain a goal. For some, the goal may be functional, such as helping an arthritic patient regain the use of their hands, and for others, the goal may be cosmetic.” “Dr. Z” observes, “We are all human and have some degree of vanity. Whether you are 20 or 80, that doesn’t change. Most cosmetic patients say to me, ‘I am 50, but I feel like I’m still 30.’ I try to help bridge that gap.”

“Dr. Z” grew up in upstate New York and graduated from William & Mary where he played soccer in NCAA Division 1. He and his wife Marianne, and their two children Kristin and Erik, live in Newport News. “Dr. Z” and Marianne can be frequently found on the sidelines at their children’s many athletic events, cheering them on.

Plastic Surgeon

I used to sell breast implants, so I have seen the good and the bad. First of all, be prepared to spend that little extra for extraordinary work, it will be worth in in the long run.
That said, Garth Fisher, M.D, in Beverly Hills, does good work--but tends to the large size.
I would recommend Lawrence Shaw, M.D. in Scottsdale, AZ. He does the most natural work I have ever seen.
